Mehhhh, bike riding is overrated.

Two and a half hours on hilly dirt roads. Great M.E. ride with a friend, perfect to work out the kinks in the new bike build for the upcoming 'cross season.

Put in a couple hours yesterday with friends on the Pinehurst Loop in Oakland. Got a King of Mountain on Strava out of it.
65 miles today around Marin, climbed Tam, weather was the best it has ever been for that loop. Amazingly the bridge was totally sunny when I rolled across at 7:45 today, stunning.

Oh also apparently if you drop a saddle bag with 2x CO2, mini tool kit and some other stuff on a Droid Incredible it can and will break the LCD =/
The loop I did was 27 miles. There's tons of loops you can do. I started from Carroll Manor Park. If I ride from my house, it would be an even 50 miles. I usually go to the NW of B'more up towards Pretty Boy. This area is really nice. Most of the area north of Baltimore is rural and loaded with small back roads. Super fun road riding area. I'm not very fast these days due to kids but if you or any other v-salon folks ever want to come up and ride, I'd love to show you around. The area around Pretty Boy Resevoir kicks ass too. We talked a friend of ours in to making the two + hour drive out to Raystown Lake. He was grinning ear to ear.
But then a mishap with a stick and a rear derailleur caused a few problems miles from the car or any road for that matter.

The rear half of the pulley cage was gone and so was one of the pulleys. The hanger was twisted bad. So we removed the hanger, sandwiched my replaceable turner hanger on his scott, removed some links, and used his busted rear der. as a singulator and road back to the cars.

Raced the provincial championships today. 120 hilly km's for the last road race of the year. I managed to stick with in the front pack as it's numbers withered until 3/4 of the way up the last climb a bunch of guys go out right in front of me. By the time I've put my foot down and managed to get around the pileup, the lead guys are up the road. Chased the last 8k or so alone, then with 3 other guys and beat them at the line for 6th.
pretty satisfied with that result since it was an important race and i feel my fitness is good fro 'cross but there's still that nagging "what if" I had stuck with the lead group till the end.
30-something miles from lowell, ma to bedford and back on saturday morning. saw TONS of cyclists on 225... never seen that many on the road before... probably 75+ cyclists during a 4-mi stretch.
Short ride today. Biggest thing on the ride was a driveby by what looked to be a cruise day by the local air-cooled VW club. Lots of pretty bugs, transporters, karmann ghias, dune buggies and one each of a notchback and fastback (sorry Archie, I don't know V-dubese well enough to ID by Type #). Several mid 50's ragtops, lots of cool cars. I got a years worth of unburned hydrocarbon into my lungs. It ws 80% VW passing me on the road for about 2 miles. No pics, did not see them parked at the usual cruise spot parking areas as I went by.
2 hours in gorgeous Bucks County PA yesterday. Perfect weather. I was actually cold when the ride began.

My vacation started Thursday and have ridden a buttload of hours since. My biggest decision for the next week is which bike to grab

So funny how many folks have been on the Mountain bike! I love it....getting an FS mtb this year is enabling me to go in the woods again, amazing how my back feels (or should say does'nt feel) I think there is some serious road burnout going on these days? I've done the MTB everyday for the last two weeks, got one more road race to do this year and gotta say motivation is not very high for it I'm done/smoked/toast/and need lotsa beer and dirt!?!?
Day 4 of Tour of Austin (1 TT, 1 circuit, 2 crits). Skipped day one, had my front wheel taken out on day 2, and had a flat on day 3. Day 4 is an hour away, and it's drizzling heavily. Might just skip it.
I rode from Gettysburg, PA through Frederick, MD to the White House in DC with my recently retired father. Lunch and a beer at the American Indian museum, and we caught a ride ome.
To say that we both were thrilled is an understatement. What a perfect father-son day. I hope I can knock out a century when I'm 60, and look no worse for the wear afterwards!
Went for a easy ride around the neighborhood, since I was feeling wiped out. Holy crap, my neighborhood is hilly. No rest for the weary.
