What do you think of the new White Industries T11 hub?

I've built up a couple sets with these this week and hadn't seen much discussion about the T11 so I decided to bring it up for those not aware of the change. Visually the script has all changed and the black hubs are now etched after anodizing for a whole bunch of contrast. Also note that the shape has lost the bulbous center section to modernize the look I suppose.

Here is a set of 32 hole about to be built up. Shimano drive, still titanium and works with the new 11 speed. A spacer is included to run with 10 speed. Weight of the front hub was 92 grams and the rear was 252 grams.

These were built up with a pair of Nemesis rims in standard 32 spoke 3 cross fashion with black Wheelsmith DB-14 spokes and black alloy nipples. Interestingly the rim weights still seem to be climbing as these were both 474 grams. Front wheel came in at 774 grams and the rear at 934 grams for a total piggish weight of 1708 grams. These will be going under a pretty good sized boy, so I'm actually pretty happy with the weight/stoutness of the combo.

Not the best pic, but I didn't want to doctor the brightness for an unrealistic effect. I was a little skeptical of the visual changes when I first saw these on the W.I. website, but after building the wheels I actually think I like them quite a bit and they seem to go well with the Nemesis rims. Just thought you might like to know.

Interestingly the rim weights still seem to be climbing as these were both 474 grams.

As the extrusion die wears, the amount of aluminum extruded increases and the rim should weigh more.

Dorman, any change in the rear centre-to-driveside flange distance, from the H3 version?

I have some HED Belgiums that just got laced up using the T11. I like them. I have a wheelset using the old H2/H3's and the freewheel on the T11 is MUCH quieter.

Yeah. The front is exactly the same, but the rear is now 38.0mm center to left flange (was 36.0 for S and 38.0 for C in the H3) and the center to right flange is 16.0 (was 18.0 for S and 17.0 for C). flange diameters stayed the same.

I'm nearly ready to take delivery of a similar set--mine are silver, for campy and laced to nemesis 28/32 with silver spokes and brass nips. Can't wait to get em up and running with Musgrave's beautiful FMB paris roubais 25mm. Will post photos when complete. These will be worn by the responsorium.

Nice looking hubs. The wheel dish is really extreme with 11s, worse than I had imagined.

Anyone know if the 11s shimano cassette would fit on a 9s cassette body-it's a bit longer than 10s, but proabably not enough.

I've got a set of silver T11s on 32h A23s laced 3x with CX-Rays. Wheelset with 10spd spacer is right around 1550g. Really dig the aesthetics of the silver hubs, not so sure about the black ones.

I just shipped out a set of A23's in the blue anodizing and all silver build for a guy with a white R3 with blue decals. I was scared at first, but it grew on me.

They're all severe at this point. The Alchemy hub improves it a bit but we're talking a millimeter here or there. Fractions of a millimeter in some cases, hence the need for offset rims, or a serious dialogue about 135mm spacing.

I have been paying attention to these flange measurements ever since I was educated about their importance by reading comments here and speaking to Jeremy of Alchemy.

Here are some numbers for comparison - all numbers are for Shimano cassettes:

Now I think that Shimano quotes their ctr to flange distances to the outside of the flange and not the center, though I don't know what difference that makes. Perhaps someone with actual wheel building knowledge can chime in? I do know that the other hub dimensions are measured to the ctr of the flange, since I poached them from the Fairwheel rear hub roundup that they have done on two occasions.

11sp, and 130mm spacing, really does clamp down on things!

From what I have seen, they are just as durable as the rest of the White Industries lineup. Yeah, the flange spacing isn't as ideal as the H3, but I cant seem to tell any difference in real world rigidity.
