My name is Frank, and I have some other friends that likely linked to some bad ass bikes, which brought me here in May. Somehow I forgot to really post then. I will blame grad school for now.

Dennis here, found you all through a classified search. Stuck around to read stories from frame builders. Always had a tremendous amount of respect for people who can actually build things.
lwkwafi, I like your Jay Ryan avatar. Cat things and bikes will always be #1.
I stumbled across the Salon when I linked to it after drooling over the gallery at Dave Kirk's site. I've posted across the hall, seeing how I have a nice cherry red CSI with lugged fork. The Serotta knowledge over there is well, what you'd expect. I was looking for a place that provided a bit more insight into the craft and culture surrounding frame building. While I also own a couple of Merckx and a De Rosa (which I'm contemplating selling because I've got too many frames stashed away in the recesses of my basement), I'm increasingly attracted to the small craft builders who post on the Salon. Lurking through the smoked out postings with the builder and his/her craft in a way that most places don't.
I started riding cross this fall, and after seeing a Zank cross bike raced in pack of Taiwanese aluminum Van Dessels and Ridleys, I want to take a closer look at a custom cross frame. Hell, I even saw e-richie has a nearly complete cross bike for sale in my size no less. Hard to imagine rolling up to cross practice on a beautiful RS cross bike when I consider a dismount a success when I don't end up on my face. That said, I think a custom frame is in my future -- funds permitting. While I'd love to have a Kirk, Bedford, Sachs, etc, I think it would be rewarding to work with an aspiring builder in my area (DC/Baltimore). I like the idea of helping someone newer to the craft get established, and it helps that their waiting lists and prices are often more manageable too.
Thanks for hosting the Salon. Definitely one of the more enjoyable corners of the web.
Hi Everyone,
Looking forward to jumping in (I read about you on Competitive Cyclist). I've got an amazing stable of lovely steeds that I can't wait to share with you all . My current love is my Meivici, which was built just for me and is the perfect blend of stiffness and is so lightweight. I'm a clydesdale but I love to ride the hills and pushing myself to the edge and back and I'm saving to take framebuilding classes. It's a lifelong dream of mine to make frames and I can't wait to share knowledge.
Rock on!,
Brett
Greetings from Sconnie Botland,
I'm coming back to cycling after some time off due to work commitments changing and getting back into motorcycles. I've dusted off the racer and am back in training. This may take a while though as I wounded myself good and proper back in May.

Great to be here; feels like home. Found my picture here a few months ago when Geek Marty posted the "Massachusetts Framebuilders Cabal" photo's from 2010 NAHBS. Subsequently directed here by a number of others in the framebuilding / framewrecking(that would be Mickey :-) ) diaspora. Thanks all for building the connections between us.
Cheers, JF
(to Lee/bertiewhang -- ach its dreich! England forever, Scotland wee bit longer...
Welcome Brett, Lee, and JF. We all come here for our own personal reasons. VSalon is a great place to learn something new and pass it along.

Hello VSalonistas and cyclisme compatriots,
Stepped away from cycling for a little bit and then got back in again. Good to be back feeling the chain. Started reading on some old forums again. I had been a member across the hall going back before the 1st shutdown and see that it has moved along also. Found out about here from there.
This place has the crowd smarts to make a good meeting hall and I hope to add to the gravity at some point. Well, some big brains here so better still I'll chip in 2 lira and just share a laugh.

i was turned on to the salon by a friend/team-mate.

I have since been in a downward spiral of buying sweet stuff based upon the awesomeness of what i see here.

Hi - I'm Nick.
I live in NH - Work in Boston and ride bicycles everywhere.
Found the site through a refering link (from one of my photos).
Hi,
Guillaume here from Quebec City, Canada.
I'm building frame since 2002 on my own. I worked in bike store at 16 years old, worked for a framebuilder at 18, worked for the biggest bike company in Canada (at the time) at 22 when I got out of technical school. I designed bikes and testing fixtures there. It was a great school. Now Now I'm 32,I'm on my own and never been happier.
I ride my bike whenever I can, I raced elite in montain bike and cyclocross, now I just ride for fun and with the kids.
What else... je parle français...
Great place, lot of inspiration for me. Thanks for putting this together.
Cheers!
Hi,
I'm Jack. I live in Utah, just north of Salt Lake City. I bicycle commute year round into the University of Utah where the day job pays the bills and lets me play at becoming a hobby framebuilder.
I've been skulking about the place for a few months. e-Richie mentioned the Smoked Out feature on the [Frame] mail list and I wandered over to see what I could see, liked what I saw, and stayed.
Howdy folks.
I am not really new, but haven't been hanging out here much lately and have always read a lot more than posted. I have mostly been a commuter for the last couple of years, not much riding just to ride but I still like cool bikes. Anyway, I suddenly find that I can't post to the classifieds. It isn't something I did a lot, but I would like to be able to do so again. I really enjoy the framebuilder stuff (Smoked Out, Framebuilder Forum) here on the V Salon. I have been blessed to have the opportunity to order a custom fixie from Tony Pereira and a rando-style bike from Ira Ryan and should be getting a Ti SS/fixie monstercross frame I ordered ages ago sometime in the next 6 months or so. I am about to order a 2010 Globe Live 1, probably, that will be my commuter after swapping out the rear wheel for a fixed one (nice to get the messenger bag off my back during the AZ summer)...
