Weekend Ride Reports 2013/01/25-27

Tonight's ride was a bro down, so no ass grab shots. Sorry. It was just around freezing, 30mph winds and a...snowing. Awesome ride. This whole section has been closed down since right after I moved here for fire mitigation. But no work is being done right now so they opened it up to riding again.

After the rain and snow of last weekend, swollen rivers cover trails. Happily, sun was shining while I was riding.

Singlespeed night ride in Golden last night. I've finally admitted that we are not having a winter here in Denver this year. Yay for dry and dusty trails in April again. Fucking drought.

74 degrees, little wind and sunny..

out the door for a few hours around the groves, up the hills & round the lakes on the rs team cx..

back home --- in adirondack chair, in tammy's herb/butterfly garden, token a "real" cuban cigar fresh in-(a well kept secret)-to the port of tampa & a "majito" with crushed ice/fresh mint..

a few cubans for my pals, don't tell tammy, and plenty of majitos to around go..

damn, it's get'n a little chilly..

Damn, it was cold today. The trails were nice, but Ronnie's place sounds better. At least I could spend 90 minutes outside in a Winter Haven adirondack without my feet going full-on zombieland.


But the trails were as good as I ever remember them. Took the studs off before the ride, although they would have been OK. I'm trying lure some more folks out tomorrow and/or Sunday, we might have a little fresh frosting out there.

90 minutes or so with marcelia. this mountain biking thing is so much fucking fun with a 29'er. the likelihood that one of us gets injured is getting less and less likely. we need a few more lessons with gregj!

Today we rode up as far as we reasonably could up Elden.

Pretty nice out despite the overcast skies.

I agree with you on the 29er thing. My 29er Stumpy has me doing the mountain bike thing again. I love riding that bike in the woods with my son.

Drop the temp a few degrees and add a light dusting of snow to already stellar trail conditions, what do you get? Fan-friggin-tastic! Just wish my feet had another hour in them.



And just like poker . . . on snow-covered climbs 3x8 beats 2x10 every time. I love my granny. This guy does not.

Lovely afternoon ride alone. Beautiful light. Stopped off at The Frying Dutchman on the way back for a raspberry filled muffin and coffee. And yes, NFS works just fine when iced up.

I rarely get out for an afternoon ride but as Tom indicated - the light was beautiful. Amazing the things I noticed when light's at a completely different angle than the first 20 early morning times I've done it.

Some roads started to get some winter grading, but this one is seasoned just right.


The big black farm dog from last week was still there. This time only 20ft off the road. He gave no chase.

This road greets me 2 miles from my house. Great way to start/end any ride.

Foggy and misty... but warmer than usual. So I left at daybreak and enjoyed getting home with some morning left to spare. It was raining on the backside of the mountains and sunny in the valley.

Hay prices are through the roof. I'll bet they're trying to make use of any grass they've got.
