    Default Weekend Ride Reports 2012/12/06-10

Ride with a buddy tonight, except for the bobcat tracks no other signs in the light dusting of snow.

Rode with the Lezyne Mega Drive and Super Drive, like riding in the day.

Lets see your snowshoeing, skiing, riding, whatevering pics. I need motivation, high of 12 predicted for Sunday.

Fog, rain, some shy rays of sun, and wind at the end of the ride. My phone failed in recording the whole track.

That means quite a bit coming from you. Thanks.
I'm starting to learn that cropping can really change the feel of a pic.

Rollers. Lots of rollers and whining. Rocking out right now. Need to figure out how to attach pictures with my cryPhone.

Funny how our definations of rollers are different-
    Small.

    Med.

    Large.

And together we're gonna go out tonight and make that highway run
You don't have to call me lieutenant Rosie, and I don't want to be your son
The only lovin I'm ever gonna need's what that soft sweet little girl's done And Rosie, you're the one

Dynamite's in the belfry baby, playing with the bats
Little Gun's downtown in front of Woolworth's tryin' out his attitude on all them cats
Papa's on the corner waitin' for the bus
Mama she's home in the window waitin' up for us
She'll be there in that chair when they wrestle her upstairs
'Cause you know we ain't gonna come
I ain't here on business baby, I'm only here for fun
    And Rosie you're the one

Aw, Sloppy Sue and Big Bones Billie, they'll be comin' up for air
We're gonna play some pool, skip some school, act real cool
Stay out all night, it's gonna feel all right
So Rosie come out tonight, baby come out tonight
Windows are for cheaters, chimneys for the poor
Closets are for hangers, winners use the door
So use it Rosie, that's what it's there for

    (CHORUS)

Now I know your mama she don't like me 'cause I play in a rock and roll band
And I know your daddy he don't dig me but he never did understand
Papa lowered the boom, he locked you in your room
I'm comin' to lend a hand
I'm comin' to liberate you, confiscate you, I want to be your man
Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny
But now you're sad, your mama's mad
And your papa says he knows that I don't have any money
Oh yeah, your papa says he knows that I don't have any money
Well, so your daddy says he knows that I don't have any--
Well, tell him this is last chance to get his daughter in a fine romance
Because a record company, Rosie, just gave me a big advance!

And my tires were slashed and I almost crashed but for Lord-have-mercy
And my machine she's a dud, all stuck in the mud, somewhere in the swamps of Jersey
Hold on tight, stay up all night, 'cause Rosie I'm comin' on strong
By the time we greet the morning light I will hold you in my arms
I know a pretty little place in Southern California down San Diego way
There's a little cafe where they play guitars all night and day
You can hear them in the back room strummin'
So hold tight baby 'cause don't you know daddy's comin'--
    SLOW!

    Chorus

    Ya ya ya ya
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey HEY!!!

No rides until my shoulder quits hurting. I went and got a massage yesterday and it is enough better to give me hope it'll stop hurting eventually. Hope sucks, it prevents you from doing what you want to do despite knowing doing what you want to do is a poor idea. It's raining and 35 degrees outside. There isn't a better day to go see what its doing up the hill in Mariavile*.

Pronounced muhr-EYE-a-vil. Important to know for the scan.

All suited up to ride into work this morning...opened the garage door to fog. Rode out to neighborhood entrance then turned around and went home and got in the car. Fog is way too dense. So, I'm heading out for a MTB ride when I'm done here. Boo-ya!

Just back from 3 hours in what turned out to be awesome weather. The forecast was rain. We got temps in the high 70s and sun. Had a fun exchange with a guy on today's ride. He turns to me and comments, "last Sunday's ride was humbling. It had me thinking I needed a new bike to keep up, but then I saw you at the front on 'that thing' and figured I probably just need to train more." 'That thing' was my Spooky. He was on a new-ish Madone. I'm glad the rough appearance of my bike got him thinking about fitness over bike upgrades, but I had to explain to him that 'that thing' is way more than meets the eye. Looking forward to some rest tomorrow and then back to the big training.

I did 2.5 hours today in fog and pissing rain. Fittingly, I was riding a bike made in Portland. If I had my camera I would have great contributions for the 50 Shades of Gray thread.

As I was riding back into town I came across a guy trying to flag me down. He saw a female jogger who dropped her keys, but was unable to run fast enough to catch her and give them back. Dude was panting, completely exhausted. So he handed me the keys, and I rode off to flag her down. City of Brotherly Love indeed.

Decided to get outside even though it was cold and rainy.

Clam shell roads are fun, but not advisable on hot days with no wind.

Rode 38 miles with a coworker in Paris, TX today. He is known as a strong rider so I didn't see any point in taking my camera. We rode a bunch of Farm to Market roads and I got a detailed description of each dog or group of dogs we'd encounter. None of them were any problem as far as being aggressive, most just wanted to run alongside. One dog was kind of crippled up so we slowed down so he could run along for a while. We did one fast stretch trading pulls that hurt, but in a good way. On the way back, I had my first flat on the road in four years; I guess I was due. Overall it was a good ride and I was never in any danger of being dropped.
    I heart brown bikes.

It was -10* this morning, and even though it was sunny, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

So I watched Casino Royale (David Niven) while I rode the rollers in the basement.
