    Default Trail Ridge Road Pictures

    I took a little ride up Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park on Monday. Thought I'd share some pics...and maybe get a hair closer to being a "full" member.

    A few elk;

    Mamma moose

    Rollin'

    Two miles above sea level

    nice! wish i was there. I rode at about 100 feet above sea level in 100% humidity on Monday, no elk, moose or mts. I did see seveal bloated road kills though.

    Bah! Humbug! (cuz I'm not there)

    Really beautiful.
    When I was there 3 years ago in July it snowed about 4 inches up there.
    It looks like there is another moose back by the water.
    Did you ascend from Estes Pk. side?

    I did an up and back from the Grand Lake side. I rode it on Monday morning at 6:30 and, much to my delight, only saw a few cars on the way up.

    There's actually a moose calf there and then several elk in the background. I didn't stop for the pictures, so that's (unfortunately) the best I got. I few more miles down the road, another one trotted out in front of me (about a hundred and fifty yards off). I missed the pic of that one between long fingered gloves fumbling with the buttons and a car coming from the opposite direction.

    Parts of that look like the road in the "Shining"! Kinda sorta.
