Default Thanksgiving Weekend Ride Reports (11/21-11/25)

It's pretty much the weekend (a long one), right? Hope everyone gets a chance to go for a ride or two over the long Thanksgiving weekend. I was fortunate enough to get out this morning for a couple of hours. Aside from a little headwind, the weather's just about perfect and there's still a few leaves left on the trees!

I made it out to the trails this morning. The weather is going to cooperate for the next couple days. I see plenty of opportunities to work off pie.

60 minutes on a new MTB trail 2 miles from my house. Ran into 3 people that I've never seen riding before on not-so-cheap MTB bikes. Funny how a rail trail and a mountain bike trail can do wonders for the LBS.

Knee warmers today but a forecasted high of 32 on Saturday for a 'cross race is more standard-ish for the end of November.

Visiting the in-laws until Sunday. Only riding I'll do is on the stationary bike in their gym. Poop.

this mornings ride. I somehow got today and Friday off work, so 5 straight days off. First pic is of the ride, sorry for my crappy cell phone pic, it was wet out despite the 5 min window I had to take a photo. wind was howling and the rain was coming down sideways. I kinda liked it.

my just reward for pounding the pedals whilst the rain pelted my face. I hope to ride all 5 days.

I've laid the groundwork for a terrific T-Day. Most of the food I can make ahead is done that means I get out early for a 6 hrs. calorie burn and we all know why.

Please take a moment and bend a knee for those poor bastids working at Whole Foods who are wearing humiliating turkey hats. Rough job.

Rode 3h home from work on an extended loop commute. On the entire South County Trailway, I saw one other person on a road bike -- and of course it turned out to be a fellow salonista! 50d at the start and 40ish at the finish. Glad I packed a vest.

Tomorrow early am, it's off to blessed Hampshire County. No riding tomorrow (I've already logged 100 miles this week) but Friday will be a dirty 40-50 mile loop in Hampshire County, and if I can sneak out Saturday too, I'll join Tee Aitch's dirt road ride too.

Best week of the year for me. Maybe not the most miles, but the most enjoyable.

I'm thankful for my bike, and all you fellow cyclists.

Really hoping this is exactly how the weather is when I'm home for the Christmas in Tampa Bay. I'll just pack the arm/leg warmers and keep my fingers crossed.

I was not far from Tampa a few weeks ago (Brooksville and Clermont) and it was definitely cooling off at night. Forecast for tomorrow is mid- to high-50s. Can't wait.

I got out of work early and headed out to a trail about 3 miles from town. It was a bit later than I probably should have started riding at. But I brought lights... Once the sun dropped I hightailed it out of there, who knows whats in those woods.

Quick little jaunt out at the Fort. Nice and easy, watching the day turn to dusk - my favorite part.

San Francisco Peaks in the background.
    photo-5.jpg

Every ride could be the last for this rig...cracked at the drive side CS/BB junction. Poor bugger. Given seven good years, though. Thankfully lost count of the miles...

Moon is just past first quarter
    photo-4.jpg

Gets chilly quick as the sun dips down...need to remember the knee warmers.

    More tomorrow...I hope.

In the end I decided not to drag my bike 800 miles to NJ. This morning I ran the old cross country course at my high school- a bit slower than back then.
Then a hike with the dogs at Jockey Hollow.

    Beer soon, then turkey.
    Pics later.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
