NAHBS blues.... Stranded in Kansas

I had business this week in Kansas City and thought I would rent a car drive on Thursday to Denver and check out NAHBS on Friday before flying home...... Well, the winter storm has stranded me in a Days Inn in Ellis, KS. Ellis is the kind of town that when I asked for jalapeños on your Subway sandwich the young lady says really? There's nothing wrong with bland but bland.

Guys I am going to be stuck here for 2 days, I am guessing.. I need some entertainment. Please help me by adding some interesting content, please??

BTW I've already tried to click my heels.... Nothing happen.





If there are any other stranded NAHBS folks and you cannot find a room. I got an extra bed. It's going to get nasty on I-70.

When I was a kid & in high school we used to drive I-70 out from St. Louis to go skiing. I believe I've stayed in that Days Inn (or maybe it was in WaKeeney) and I know I've driven across Kansas in those kinds of conditions. My sister & I made a game of counting all the Camaros and Mustangs in the median ditch. If you think western Kansas is flat, wait till you get to eastern Colorado.

Welp, a Netflix account and WiFi access would be a good thing. This flick is worth seeing again, and it's streamable.

Feedlot tours are an interesting way to spend time while visiting western Kansas. Pickled quail eggs can be found in many of the area's truck stops as well...

I wish I had a Strava account cause I think I could've the KOM for the Ellis on ramp to I-70 climb.... Downloaded "Hoosiers" seemed a better fit than Planes Trains and Automobiles.

Are those yellow lines contours? That map shot is as bleak as the truck stop photo. If you're packing, I'd get rid of it quickly for your own safety.
