    Default My saddle height changed

I've just got back on the bike after a bit of a lay off. I rode my normal bike last weekend exactly as it was when I last rode it regarding contact points. It was fine and I had a nice but slightly uncomfortable ride.

Saturday I went out on the Longstaff with a Brooks saddle on that was the first time I'd ridden it in that guise. I ended up moving the saddle down a little from where it started (I'd not measured just put it together and rode it). Sunday I went out and did 40 miles on it and it was really nice (a little hard up hills but the bike weighs a lot).

This morning I just wanted to check the contact points as it was so comfortable and realised my saddle was at 79cm instead of 82cm I normally ride.

    Very odd.

I just lowered mine almost a centimeter after 8 weeks off the bike.

My saddle slipped and I am still getting through the tweak it did on my knees ...

My saddle has moved back and down over the past 10 years. Talking SMALL increments here.

Taking a break makes your bike feel weird. I've experienced my saddle height feel too high after a break, but it will feel normal again after a few rides.

Maybe you lost a bit of flexibility in your short vacation from cycling? Tight hamstrings would probably be an easy culprit.

the brooks are allot "thicker" in the rail-to-saddle-top aspect then just about anything else I have seen. + you lost some flexability in your time off. lastly, whenever i build a new bike for a repeat customer {very often} even though I still heve their old plans & they say the older bike is just fine I still insist on new body measurements - we ALL change constantly over out life times - Garro.

I'm almost 1.5 cm lower than I was 3 years ago. Much more comfortable IMO.
