    Default I'm in Mango Love.

I started using embrocation this past winter. The cold, wind, and rain were made bearable by its sweet burn. Living in the Northwest, it is always on the menu. Like the Pony Express, it empowers the user with an insatiable desire to push through any weather.

As winter has given way to temps over 50F, I have been thoroughly enjoying the ambrosial scents of the Mad Alchemy summer blends, the newest being the "Mango Love". I know it sounds like some kind of edible undies, but you should not eat it. I guess bugs love it too.

I recommend all of the Mad Alchemy products. After field testing each of them, I feel they represent the pinnacle in their respective uses.

I dig the Mad Alchemy (and Unconventional Medicinals and Qoleum). I was thinking about getting some of the mango stuff, but I'm unsure I'd use it. What does non-heating embro do for you? It's just for sheen?

    Default proper application

though i think this video shows a way too sparse application, you can see the boys are giving a lot of thought to the technique

there is an older post showing excessive application by Steve Francisco. I go somewhere in the middle with my quantity.

I am starting to ramp up my mileage. I was wondering if people have used Unconvetional mdecinals Smooth Ride and Mad Alchemy Sports Balm Chamois Balm. If yes, how did they compare?

    From Mad's website.
Your first question about this product is probably the same that ours was. What's the difference between a chamois cream and a chamois balm? Here's the deal: The Mad Alchemy Chamois Cream is our go-to product for 95% of our rides. It's light and pleasant and effective. We reach for this thicker, stickier balm when conditions get wet, cold and extreme. It's more viscous consistency keeps it in place and functional during the harshest conditions. We also go to this product during stage races or when we're doing long miles multiple days in a row. A friend recently rode his bike from Seattle to Boston using this balm to comfort his butt the whole way.
Orencia is my drug of choice

Smooth ride is AWESOME.-- my go to
MA Balm --- just like they said for wet weather or just want more
Qoleum --- was my wet weather back up, but don't really dig using petroleum products now that there are great alternatives.

Smooth ride is my go to. I was just wondering on 8+ hour rides, does the balm last longer?

i have no need or desire to ride for 8 hours, sorry. I would suspect as heavy as it is, it would be a good choice. IF i were to ride that long I would easily have a small bottle of smooth ride to reapply at a water stop.

Stu, I've switched to using Lantiseptic exclusively for application to skin (embro for legs yo) and think that the chamois butt'r is really fine stuff for application to fabric.

MAD ALCHEMY I'm in! Ordered both the non-heating jobs and sent an invite to login in here and share.

I've been using both of the Mad Alchemy chamois creams. The Pure is not as thick as the Pro. I'd suggest using the Pure for shorter rides if so inclined.

Warm weather embro serves many purposes. It's part of the pre-ride ritual: chamois cream, sunscreen, embro. The short massage helps to loosen any leg muscle stiffness and the sheen is way PRO. (Not that I am PRO, but the sheen is.) My legs just feel better with it. Try it.
