Want some 45s, but it seems as though they might be changing the design pretty soon (based on the Smart email that was recently sent out.

Why does luxewheelworks only build with DT hubs?

Here are a few pix of the rear wheel build. Had them built by Jeremy of Alchemy Bicycle Works. You simply cannot go wrong with the hubs. Jeremy and his wife Sarah are great people and a pleasure to deal with.

They can be built with reasonably low spoke counts and they stand up to abuse well. The only downside is the brake track: on most rims it pulses slightly. It shouldn't be bad enough to notice when riding but it's noticeable when coming to a complete stop - certainly not as nice as a DT rim, but you can't have everything in life.

Some more info here if that helps.
Does anyone have a reason fro the pulsing and is it more of a problem on the KinLin's ? I've heard good things about those rims, except for that issue.

I like the Velocity Aerohead. I used them on my latest build and feel they are a good blend of weight, quality, and cost. I would like to try the Kinlin 270 someday, only if they are that much better than the Aerohead or Fusion... leaving the minor weight differences aside.

The pulsing is caused by the width of the machined brake track on the rim changing. Most rims are quite good and vary less than 0.1mm but some of the really bad ones are up to 0.3mm. The issue to two-fold; how much variation there is and the distance between peaks and troughs. In 99% of the rims it's a non-issue and any reputable builder will replace a rim which pulses.

I'm in love with my tubulars but after a season like this one it's time for some tough love with several FMBs (not one, but three....) dying before their time and even a Veloflex and a couple of Vittorias. And several false flats on a couple of remaining premium tubulars because of leaky valves. The 'can I make it through this ride or not?' thinking sucks because it doesn't only involve me and my prima donna sew ups, but my riding partners. I'm used to one flat per year on the tubulars and this year was tough. Very, very tough. They ain't cheap and no matter how 'fixable' they are it's a serious PITA and those 23mm clinchers look ever more tempting after a year of flats on the best tubulars on the market. This was perhaps my worst ever season on the good ones.

Those 23 mm clinchers look ever more tempting.

Like riding that mystical Norton which stalls in the rainstorm, leaving your buddies sitting in the rain or at the 7-Eleven on their Ducatis or MV Agusti or Gileri or whatever exotica wondering why your ultra exotic won't run. I digress.
i used neutrons for years, but when they started to fatigue, the maintenance was expensive( $60 for a pack of campy spokes and parts ). along the way, i noticed that the campy rims were wider. at the time, i hadn't thought about the width dimension contributing to better ride and handling. well, i now think that the wider rims on neutrons was a factor in their great quality. since, i have purchased a set of bastognes and a set of handbuilts( record hubs, a23 rims ). both wheelsets remind me of the neutrons. my favorite is the bastognes with pro3's 23mm at 85lbs fr and 95lbs rear.

Same thought- hold tight on Edge/Enve till the release of the aero version. Maybe in the mean time pick up a nice used set of Cosmic Carbonne clinchers- that's what I did for my road Speedvagen. Come spring I should have some nice carbon clincher options.

On a side note I'll assume it's a front wheel which is pulsing? XR-300 or 270? Check that your brakepads are toe'd in a little as this can make a difference.
The builder told me to try and put it between two blocks of wood to flatten it out a bit. A good builder, as you said, would probably have a better solution.*
And, it's the front that's pulsing on an XR-300. If it had a higher hole-count, I would've moved it to the rear, but it's only a 28.

ONLY a 28? How many spokes do you think you need? The XR300 is a super beefy rim.
