Default Help me learn from this clinic on descending

Cipollini Bond - Behind the scene 1 on Vimeo

It was posted across the hall but instead of just sitting here in awe, I want to get better by watching what he does.

    Particular points of interest include
    11:11 dodging the car
0:52 either countersteering or dodging a pothole
    3:00 in the chicane...awesome
5:30 truck in hte way is no big deal...I'd slam into it.

I get that part of his speed comes from having been down the road a few hundred times, but what should I be looking at to be more like Mario?

Keep your LAW perfectly slung at all times.

Look at #2, shot from the front. His whole body is active in the process. Tons of experience plus the right amount of overconfidence.

    Wow, many questions.

Some are like "what's in the tube?" but I guess I could just watch the damn movie.

But was that road open to traffic? Or because of the cops at the bottom it was closed and those were extras.

The engine noise, was that a waste gate? I wonder what kind of car that was.

    Wow, Mario.

This exactly. Confidence will inspire speed, or is it vice versa.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but, it's a car unless they have the camera in some sort of rig to keep it horizontal.

I see that his head stays vertical, but I'm surprised at how his upper body stays relatively quiet. Seems he's always in line with the bike. I'd expect something more like a motorcycle racer who is all over the bike.

The best way to go fast is to not touch the brakes.

The first video, from behind, is certainly a turbo charged car.

You can hear the turbo spool, and blow-off valve. You can even hear the tires squealing around some turns.

The second video, from in front, is a motorcycle.

Love how the motorcycle has a tough time staying ahead of him on the tighter turns.

Mario tries to mount him a few times, we all know who the alpha dog is.

It's the same car in both I'd imagine. Why use a car for one and a bike for another? And if it were a bike the horizon would tilt as the bike leaned in the corners, which it doesn't in the video, so, it's not a motorcycle.

Now THIS is onboard a motorcycle: GUY MARTIN TT Isle of Man Lap on-board Honda 1000 - 1 of 2 - YouTube

And what is on his back?

    A delivery from Michele Ferrari.

I think it's supposed to be the top-secret plans for his bike:

+1. Camera stays level, plus the tire noise and exhaust note say car. Awesome car. What's bigger, Mario's balls or his ego?

Reminds me of the Sestriere ride day at S.France camp. Some of the roads seemed like endless clean twisties.
    Confidence, that's all it takes.
