May I ask what rims you will be using? How big are you using a 16 spoke rear and what spokes are you planning on using?

I know of 16 front hubs, but not rears. You might get away with a 32 spoke hub is you are using a cross pattern in the rear.

just get some 32s and use every other hole.

That's my point. Your thinking about stuff, think about getting stronger, faster, better, smarter, tougher, meaner and on and on and on.

new wheels won't make YOU any of the above.

I mean all this sincerely, and it's a do as I say not as I do thing, but it's all true.

Go do a search back at sf about what swoop says about going deeper than the mind wants you to go. That stuff is better than wheels, and it's free if you can do it.

All sound advise. If you choose not to listen to them, use heavy gauge spokes at least for the rear wheel. Using light gauge spokes like CX-rays in the rear wheel with that few spokes is asking for trouble. Last I checked, Bontrager uses something like DT Aerospeed spokes which are flattened 2.0mm straight gauge spokes. Aren't the Bontis higher count in the rear?

Anyway, you can find 16 spoke front hubs all over ebay that are cheap. There should be paired spoke front hubs like from a Rolf around.

For the rear, any 32 you can get and 2X the pattern. The problem with 32 is that the hole offset from side to side won't match up well with an evenly spaced hole pattern on the rim. If the rim is paired (should be), I think you can get away with any old 32 you can get and do 2X. Watch the offset when you choose which holes to use.
