    Default Floor pump stuff

    Hey ya'll,

So what do you guys like to use and any thoughts on the accuracy of those pressure gauges? I have an old Nashbar pump that has lasted over 12 yrs and works just fine but after comparing the pressures with a friend's Topeak it looks like I've been running my tires about 15 psi lower than I thought, assuming the Topeak was accurate. No wonder I always feel like my bike is so smooth...

    Thanks,
    HS

Accuracy supposedly comes with a 2nd hand-held pressure gauge.

My specialized pump is about 10psi difference from my friend's Blackburn. Unless I lost 10psi by taking the pump head off and riding one mile. I'm due for a new one. Probably pick up a Lezyne or Park.

My beloved Super Pista finally gave up the ghost last year. At 11.4s recommendation I replaced it with a Specialized Air Tool Pro--couldn't be happier with it.

all gauges eventually read low by about 10-15 psi over the years as the mechanical spring loses a few microns of compression. nothing wrong with the pump. just check the pressure against a good tire gauge and re-calibrate mentally when you use the old pump. I've got a 30 year old Medai that just won't die, but reads low by about 15. no biggie. almost everyone overinflates their tires anyway (hey, it says 125 psi on the sidewall! doh)

Really like the screw-on head of the Lezyne floor drive, gauge seems to reasonably accurate.

i recently purchased a lezyne screw-on to replace a broken 6 year old topeak joe blow. it (the lezyne) was a huge pita to use and therefore, in spite of its nice wooden handle and overall good styling, lasted less than a week. i returned it and replaced it with a far less stylish Serfas TCPG Floor Pump, which weighs much less, cost less than half and works at least four times better.

I have a silca track pump that i bought in 1982. It still works great, although I've heard that the new ones are rubbish. Despite my success with the silca, I recently bought a Specialized something tool pro. Everything about it is great except for the chuck head. What a pos. I cut the fucker off and installed a spare silca brass chuck that I had in the parts bin. Now it is the best pump I own.

That looks beautiful; but at $65, it makes the Lezyne a pretty expensive pump. Is there something wrong with the Lezyne slip chuck upgrade ($9.99)? It looks pretty nice:

If anyone wants to unload a spare lezyne hose/head, I'd buy it.
