levers toast after a year. had a rebuild. now the springs have gone. campy usa don't stock da springs.

bikeshop to campy: well, he races it, and we'd like to replace the springs.

campy: buy a new shifter body.

bikeshop: we can't just buy these springs?

campy: well, if he races it, he should be on 11sp anyway.

Campagnolo needs to back up the rebuildable claim. I have gutted ergos in the parts box because they didn't stock the parts. In my case it was the silly Escape parts but still....

When I raced MX, a $250.00 clutch lasted 1-2 weekends, a $300.00 piston 1/2 season, a $150.00 tire 1 weekend at best. Entry fees were often $200.00 a weekend. Racing push bikes is cheap. I never raced road, but I raced downhill and BMX. Its a bargain compared to motorsports. I never expected a manufacturer to give me preferential treatment because I raced. This is how they make money: charge people for shit when it wears out.

I never asked for any preferential bullshit. racin or no racin, something as simple as a fucking bike part should last for a reasonable time. 80s and 90s stuff, I rememberz weight differences, but not a lot of functional difference between high and "entry" level parts you'd see spec'd on a decent race bike.

something wrong happened around 2005. frame prices get stupid. component prices get stupid. now you pay some seriuz money for stuff that breaks. a grand is "cheap" for a stupid bike gruppo. that's fucked up.

Annoying. I feel your pain, and unfortunately I have the same shifters on my bike. Campy is going to lose some of it's flock this way.
