Default Can Ricco Win This Tour

The title says it all....Is it possible for Ricco to still win this Tour? He is the best climber in the race....and with the alps still to come, 2:29 is not a whole lot of time for a great climber to make up..... with enough cushion to cover a loss in the TT....I like the kid's class.....

Its pretty clear his team won't let him try. If there was any chance of it, they'd have let him try to fly up the road yesterday - instead they had him mark the lead group while Piepoli and Cobo took a flyer. Ricco looked like he could have taken off and probably caught those guys at any point. Maybe he couldn't have, but he looked like he was riding pretty effortlessly most of the day. If they don't let him go for it on mountain top finishes, its not gonna happen.

Whether he could if they let him try? Dunno. Maybe not, but it'd be fun to watch him try. He'd get some pretty incredible mountain victories, I'd bet, but whether he'd also crack and have a really bad day in the mountains or whether his mountain times would be enough to offset his TT losses, I don't have a clue. But I guess the team figures he's not quite ready yet and is holding him back for next year. I wonder how it would go if SD had another legit GC contender that Ricco was supposed to work for and he turned out to be a lot stronger. Like with Contador and Levi last year. If they'd have let him go for it?

Granted winning Le Tour or any of the big three for that matter can solidify a career, but couldn't he also be a fantastic winner of the mountains? Could we not celebrate his ability to kick effin ass in the mountains? Do we always need the next great hope?

I'm sure it takes a special type of rider to win a tour, but as amazing as Cadel or whomever wins this year is, I enjoy guys racing for today, now, the moment. The one day classics this past year really turned me on to the moment. Stage racing, maybe the hardest type of racing, but the "big Guns" wait for a week to come out and play. I don't know. Ricco rocked the other day and I hope he continues to do so. Maybe he can be a badass climber like his idol, although his idol did with big ones, but look at the deamons he lost out to. just sayin.

No tour win for this kid but a specatcular win on the Alp in pouring rain would be a winner in my book

    Friends!

    Was Ricco At His_Limit

    On Hautacam?

    Otherwise If He Was Trying

    To Move_Up On GC,

    He Should Have_Attacked

    Once Piepoli And Cobo

    Had Gone Clear And

    Were Sure To Win!

    It Seemed Like He Was

    More Interested In

    Polka_Dots!

    Love,
