At least my father in-law's house isn't in danger, and 9 hours of NOT being in a car is ok too. When it's not smoked out (which is 99.99% of the time) the roads in Trinity County rock. There aren't very many of them, but they tend towards the epic.

We have so much bad air here in Reno/Tahoe that it's really had a major suck factor. It smells so bad and looks like LA. Usually those west winds roll in every afternoon and clear things up---now they just blow in NorCal smoke. New smoke vs. old smoke. Trinity and Lassen both rock for epic-ness. My little bit o paradise is all on fire---real buzz kill. At least I have my twizzler's and a nice "Imperfection is perfection" DVD to keep me busy. (just call me fatmo). Glad your kin folk don't have to deal with personal fire damage.
