These are all things that I made at school, except for the copper tiles. At RISD we get the chance to play in all types of materials, wood, metal, glass and more!

The first chair was a study in 3 dimensional lamination. Is is made with a okamae and cork veneer and fabricated aluminum sides

the second chair is cork and stainless tube

the table was for a glass casting project where I wanted to use use a repeated form

the copper tiles I made over the summer working with a local stamping factory and helped develop the tooling for mass-production

Wow, nice work. The first chair... How much time do you have in that? The cork and stainless one looks way comfy.

Thanks for the replies, the first chair took way too long to make. I dont know how many hours I have into to it, but it was a 6 week project, and it was built in the last 2 weeks. I would say that there was over 100 hours used to make it

The cork is nice to sit on, it is very firm/rigid but is softer and warmer than wood if that makes any sense. My biggest compliant with is is the polyurethane finish that i used, it gave it a slight plastic feel that does not complement the material. So I am in search of something better.

Yes it is It is a 20 wheeled frame made from stainless steel that my friend designed and fabricated and I welded it together for him. Good eyes!

I'l spitballing here...what about melting a high temp (melt) wax into the cork and sanding off the surface after?

Where did you get the thick chunk of cork on the second chair? I really like it's simplicity, classic design that begs to be sat in, love it!
