    Default Quack/Herrrr-Onk

Side business of mine: Dead Creek Calls. Hand turned [no duplicator used] duck and goose calls made out of domestic/exotic wood and acrylic. The acrylic is also turned by hand on a wood lathe.

Wow! those are really nice, what does it take to bring the acrylic back to being translucent after cutting it?

    Thank you.

It takes about on hour+ of sanding starting at about 100 grit and progressing in steps up 2000 grit before polishing begins. Inside of the calls is a PITA.

My kingdom for a CNC machine and a flame polisher...... ;)

    Default Beautiful

Beautiful work. I used to do a lot of hand turning, but not much any more. You've made me want to get out my chisels.

Wow, if I was a bird hunter I'd be onto the trade.
They are a fine art as it is.

Just forwarded the link to your beautiful work to a friend who's husband is an intense waterfowl hunter. Maybe she'll get him a late present.

    Alec:
    Those are beautiful.

A matching duck/goose call set will on the top of my birthday list.

    Again, very nice calls.
