    Default Steve Rex

At another forum member's suggestion, I thought I'd add a Steve Rex thread. He really does beautiful work. His fillets are truly a thing to behold. I've attached some pics of my bike that he built a couple of years ago. I wanted a fast long distance bike. He also fabricated the minimalist rack so I could use small Berthoud pannniers. I recently installed the Athena 11spd group set.

That looks great! I really like the rack, super clean and integrated. Looks like you are running campy brakes and 35mm honjos? What size tire are you using and how is the clearance with the fender? I have been daydreaming quite a bit about a bike like that.

    I agree...nice ride.

Re. the Honjo question...I'm no expert, but I know you can put a Honjo 35 through a Campy standard caliper (Record, etc) if the frame/fork provides clearance to run the pads towards the outsides of the adjustment slots. 23's will fit and most 25's will work if set up correctly. Fat 25's and larger have posed a problem, in my experience. Your results may vary...

Nice color and build. I like the rack.

Here's mine dressed for rain on last weekend's Fleche.

Wow, these are great. This is pretty much exactly what I want my bike to be like: versatile, simple and sleek. Very nice.

The frame and fork were built to maximize clearance with the "short reach" campy brakes. Thus, with a 35mm Honjo fender I can fit most 25mm tires and even the relatively "fat" Michelin Krylion 25mm tire (although clearance with this tire is a bit too tight for my taste).

Hey chorizo you're the king of the rexes! Sorta like king of the kings. That's what one semester of latin will teach you.

    Gosh that's a great rig.
It would be easier not to like Steve if he weren't good looking, easy going and ONE HELLA fast bike rider ;)

I'm really impressed with Steve's work here and elsewhere. These bikes are uniformly awesome.

Those are awesome. Might be time for me to get another Rex. I had had 7 different Rexes! 6 made for me, one used that was so close I could not pass it up. My buddy still rides that one as a rain bike.
