Spectrum recently repainted my Chris Chance in Team Violet. It is stunning. Detail photos show the color much better.
Bike is set up for long meandering rides in the southeastern Pennsylvania countryside. Dirt roads, chip and seal, rolling hills.
I'm gonna head down to fabric row and get some white leather to recover the saddle, and plan on changing to white tape. Otherwise I'm very happy with the build.
The brake levers are Tektro. Only about $25. Blades are an exact copy of the 10 speed Campy design, hoods are a little longer and rounder. Pivots are not the greatest, they have some slop, but otherwise no complaints.
I bought a Kellogg built/painted Fuji used from Bobby Lea. I think he was a Jr. rider then. Between the Ti welds on my Moots and Toms lugs/paint depth I could and do sometimes just crack a beer and stare at those joints. Toms lugs and paint jobs are just plain old stunning. I am in need of about 5 guys on this forums perfect fillet bikes so I can have the trifecta of gazing at bikes. Hell then I wouldn't even have to ride, I could just drink beer and look at bikes. (I have actually done that more than once, I am not proud to say) Somedays it looks like a cloud on the horizon, can't risk getting hit drop of rain, and there is beer in the fridge.
You're right about the detail photos showing the color better. Maybe some photographer here can explain why the full photo washes out the frame color. I'd like to get a better handle on how to photograph bikes, too.
I remember the first time I saw a Chris Chance. They were being used as neutral support bikes at the Tour de Trump and I watched the stage depart Northampton MA. The frames were badged Slim Chance and were either yellow or a neon shade thereof. And they had that unique, segmented fork.
