New Damocles. The first of many.
More pics here.
I really wish Ridley would paint more of their bikes 2 colors. For me, the paint gets in the way of the bike. Until you and the Jerk convinced me otherwise, I was certain that they had to be generic asian stuff. It's amazing what too many paint colors can do to hide the lines of a bike!
it looks like they're doing market research on that with their "design your own ridley" contest
Ridley is one of the few bikes I've commented on when I've seen them in person. "Nice bike" usually suffices and gets a friendly nod in return. I've only seen 3 Ridleys in person down here. The other was a Richard Sachs I spotted in last year's MS ride.
I like this ridley quite a bit. With the bontrager sponsorship what level of commitment did they want from you? In the past I remembered them wanting trek bikes etc as well.
The Helium doesn't suck. I dig the round tubes and the chainstays are massive.

"SHUT UP LEGS"
Pippo edition frame.

Ridley released a spedial edition to honor his Itl national championship for 2010. Numbers vary, but I've been told that only 200 complete bikes (Campy SR) are available. However, they also made available (from what I've been told) 150 framesets. They are available, just contact your Ridley dealer/distributor. QBP is the US distributor.

My old Noah with Super record
It works fine for the time it was on there. Much stiffer action, so a bit more umph needed to get it moving, but it did what it was asked to do. Was used primarily due to me not having the 34.9 clamp needed with my Shimano 7800FD, so, the parts bin obliged the Campy version until I found the size I needed in D-A. Has since been swapped and much easier throw now.
And yes, the Pippo edition is just paint, although can't find where North America got an ISP Damocles this year save for the Pipp.
Here's my Ridley Helium. I love this bike but I want to get rid of those wheels!
Wow, that Helium is nice! Those wheels are a bit, shall we say, porky. But, after riding a set for a few rides, they do have some nice qualities, as they keep their speed very well. Reminds me of a bit heavier Cosmic Carbone.
yeah, those wheels were a "super deal" at the LBS that should have never happened. No regrets though, they have seen a lot of miles and have been great to me. I just found a tiny crack in the front wheel, which is ok since it gives me an excuse to buy some new wheels! thinking edge 45's![]()
A question for everyone with a Ridley Helium:
What kind of computer are you using?
The fat chainstays seem to limit the choices, I really wanted to use a garmin but I don't think I'll be able to use their cadence sensor.
Thanks
Here's mine. Thanks to the guys at Mad Duck!
P.S. sorry for the crappy iPhone pics.
