Peter Dreesens

Peter is a low key local builder (Pottstown, PA). He has 30 plus years riding,racing,wrenching,building. This was my first custom bike and he made the process great. I went to his shop along with my then current road bike (merckx) and we talked about what I wanted (a classic lugged racing bike). He took a few measurements of my merckx, looked at me and we talked some more.

A few months later I picked up the frame. Built it up with centaur and velocity escape tubular/conti giro tires. I was blown away before I even got out of my 100ft driveway. It rides stable and sure at slow and fast speeds. It carves turns (slow and fast) with ease and confidence. It sprints forward better than any c-dale I've ever had: not as much as an aluminum snap forward but more like, actually exactly like, a strong surge forward when you stand or apply power sitting. Of all the bikes I have (cdales, steel merckx, al merckx(s) - the Dreesens is now my goto bike.

my new track bike. true temper tubing - oversize downtube for added stiffness. 51ctc seat and 53.5 ctc toptube.

I couldn't resist and had Peter build me another. This one is an over size (Max tube like but round) lugged road bike. Check out the chainstays. in paint now, can't wait.

OK that is weird, none of the pics (blue road or red track) showed up when I answered pruck's post above so I pulled up the track ones and linked the road. When I posted that post all the pics that were posted months ago showed up. O well. I
ll post pics of the new ride as soon as I get it. Hopefully within the next few weeks. Paint is black with the same decals as the red track. Ultegra build with open pro wheels.

quick first pic. picked it up today. peter was nice enough to build it up for me. i still have some small details (bar tape) to do. took it out on the driveway and local road for about 10 minutes after the storm blew past. rides great. very similar to my blue Dreesens but of course stiffer/stouter.

tubing is true temper. size is 52 seat ctc, 54 toptube ctc. once i get it all the way done i'll post more.

went to DT shifters for the heck of it and updated my track bike. the track bike got a miche group and miche hubs with deepv rims. the road bike got downtube shifters, 10sp DA and round bars.

Thanks, I like the blue the best also - I'm thinking of having the black repainted by TK in the blue since it will be my primary road bike.
