    Default New Vintage Ibis Hakkalugi

It's done and waiting for some dirt roads and 'cross. Should be a very fun bike! Look at the wheelbase! D2R2 anybody?

I wish I knew these only took mountain triples prior to starting the build. The FSA Sl-k canti's look like they'll work well too - less than $90.00 a pair with orbital pad adjustment, barrel adjuster, and individual spring tension adjustment.

Love it. The green Hakkalugi was the first cross bike I ever laid my eyes on in the late 1990s. Badass.

Were those RaceFace cranks released as a road version? Or just 5x110 which is the same as modern compact.

    I love the seatpost :-)

Those are the trustworthy Next LP in 94 bcd coupled with an older FSA Utimax BB -- super light stuff for early 00's MTB!

The rings are 44 / 32 at the moment. I'm thinking of maybe a 1x10 for 'cross season with a 42 mounted in place of the 32. I was sort of hindered with the crank choice as the 135mm rear spacing bows the chainstays out too much for even a road compact on a 113 BB.

A friend had a pair on his trials bike. I was following him through a carpark one evening when the block of carbon fell out - amazingly the crankarm stayed straight

Nice looking bike. Ibis made some trick bikes in their day. I had an Ibis tandem and all of the tubes were sealed. Over time water got in to several of the tubes and it could not drain. Significant rust formed and I replaced the frame. If your Ibis is in the rain it probably has sealed tubes and the water will not drain out.

    Noted.

I have an 01' steel IF Deluxe as well -- those tubes are sealed. I've never had any problems with rust. A little JP Weigle's frame saver is all it has ever needed.
