    Default Molteni Rambouillet repaint

After years of commuting and a rode trip to the Ramble strapped to a Saris rack, my Ram needed some lovin'. There was bare metal in a few places so I figured it was time for a repaint. I dig the orange but wanted something different but classic. What's a more classic orange than Molteni? So I sent it back to Riv world headquarters who sent it to D&D for a repaint. I got it back last week, just in time to build it up for TOMRV, which I rode with Rydesteel (great ride by the way). The frame had been away for much longer than anticipated and I had forgotten how much I love the way it rides. I really like the new orange but the old one was really nice too. I can't decide which I prefer.

Here's a shot of the original color...

Beautiful! I prefer this orang as well (although it will probably take your eyes a little time to adjust). looking forward to seeing it in person...

p.s. the swift looks nice, too...

Those fenders would have been nice on Sat morning. Oh wait the weather man said the rain would blow through by Friday night, oops ;>). Great ride James, the Ram look even better in person, we have to do TOMRV again next year, maybe get a few more Midwest forum folks to join in as well. Glad you got home safe and sound. Frank

Awesome. Does Grant know you're running some saddle-to-bar drop on that bad boy?

Grant did his best to ensure that there's not too much drop. I left a spacer in the stack in case I ever want to strap on a front rack/bag and use a spacer mounted decaleur. I have the stem about as low as it will go with the one spacer. I can't remember the exact specs but I think there's something like a 3cm of drop now.

Default New Orange = much mo' betta

I'm not sure if I would feel safe on a Riv that didn't have drop handlebars at least a foot ABOVE the saddle.

Are you some kind of contortionist or yoga buff ?

Don't you realize that no amount of overly cutesy - named tweed accessories will balance out that unsafe saddle-bar drop ?

Even excessive amounts of pine tar soap will not save you from being ostracized by the Riv-Nuts out there.

Luckily your friends here at VS can give you the important fitting tips to bring your bike mo' back into line where it should be. Immediately install a Technomic stem and maybe even a quill stem extender on top of that. Cover everything in cloth tape and shellac liberally. Shellac your water bottle also, and then say three Hail Mary's and you should be back on the right track. If this still does not give you the proper "sit-up-and-beg" position you might need to consider installing some Sting-Ray ape hanger high-rise handlerbars. They work well with bar-end shifters.

Oh - did I mention that the new orange looks much
    nicer ?!
