Thread: LandShark

  1. Default LandShark

Hope it's OK to start a new thread. I looked for an existing thread for John's work and didn't find one. Surely someone else likes fillets???

This ride has been my primary race bike for the last two seasons. Handles great and is very different from pretty much everything else in the pack. I designed the paint scheme. Have always liked panels and there was no frigging way I was letting Slawta loose on my bike. Love his frames but we have different "tastes" when it comes to finish work.

Two years old and has seen about 40 circuit races. It's got a few chips and dings but still honks. Maybe not quite as good as the Sachs I raced as a kid but a darn nice bike.

You're making me sad. This literally happened last night. I came to V Salon hoping that pics of pretty bikes might cheer me up. Then I see a brand-new Land Shark thread. What a coincidence...

Sorry about that! My JP Weigle died a hideous car induced death in what looks like a similar manner. Bike dead, rider alive, can't complain too much though.

I dig the detail on your fork crown!!

I am very serious about my frames

  7. Default I love sharks

I love Landsharks. I will take some Pics and try to post my "rainshark"- a Landshark made for Full Fenders.
You have to Let John loose on your bike. I picked out a panel scheme like yours- but told John to do a bunch of "landsharky" stuff in the background. So the main color looks like a deep blue from 10 feet away but it has a bunch of airbrushing in it and glitter sharks or it.
I saw one of the new tube to tube carbon Landsharks today. I would ride one of those in a heartbeat!

Good timing on this post (for me, anyway) - I'm considering a new bike and almost completely forgot about LandShark! Seems like you get a ton of bike for a really reasonable price. I think that I'll give John a call on Monday...

John Slawta built the Land Shark bicycle Andy Hampsten rode to victory at the 1988 Giro d' Italia.

I absolutely loved my Landshark. The only bike I have ever sold and really wish I hadn't. The only reason I sold it was I outgrew it and it became too small and even then I still had a hard time parting with it. One day I promise myself I will get another one.

Luckily the Sante group has survived. So now I have to either get my Land Shark repaired by Slawta (who else could do the repaint?) or find another frame to hang the group on.

    i'd ride it
