Thread: Ellis

  1. Ellis

Below is the culmination of a year of searching, reading and learning about lugged steel bicycles. I would like to thank Chris Duroy for the initial idea and final build, Dave Wages for design, execution and hand-holding, Jason Sanchez for paint and finish and finally the members of this forum for a year crash course in custom bicycles. A final warning, polarized lenses are a must.

    Reynolds 953 tubeset
    Llewellyn 6 degree lugset
    Dura Ace 7800
Deda bar, stem and seat post
    Fizik saddle and bartape
Mavic Open Pro rims, DT Swiss spokes, Dura Ace hubs

Ride report to follow. Neighborhood spin is so SMOOOTH.
Dave is a master with a relatively short waiting list. Do not hesitate. I am contemplating getting back in line.

  6. I saw this bike on his blog, and couldn't stop thinking about it. I don't remember feeling the same way about another frame.

  7. WOW!

    Is that polished or chromed?

Christmas present from my wife: Dave absolutely nailed it. It is absolutely flawless from fit to finish to ride. I have some great bikes for sure, but this joins one other in a different category.

That's pretty terrific! That downtube is interesting, too. Consider me jealous. :)
