    Default Circle A Cycles Gallery

Seeing as there is no Circle A Gallery, and no other owners of a Circle A frame have started one, here it goes. A couple of shots from the frame as it is being built and couple crappy ones from my cell phone. Better photo's to come once I find my mini usb to usb cord for the camera.

    Default Excellent...

Cool - nice bike. Thanks for starting this gallery. Hope to see more of 'em! I saw a nice orange one today at the NBX cross race in RI, not to mention Dan Langlois' beauty.

    Very nice.

Has Circle A built many big bikes before or were they in new territory with yours?

Mine was not the first large frame they have built. Check out this monster: http://www.circleacycles.com/brian/2.../17/el-halcon/

As far as I can tell mine is the second, so they do not specialize in tall frames, but is certainly something they can handle. Brian, I believe, viewed the project as a bit of a challenge and seemed to enjoy the difficulties inherent in building a large frame, as evidenced by his post about tall riders.

To be totally equitable, there are custom builders out there who do specialize in building tall bikes like Lennard Zinn. There is also Rick Hunter of Hunter Cycles who is himself 6'6''.

Great stuff. Larger frames can be designed with a proper balanced look and both do that nicely.

Circle A didn't build my frame, but they painted it. Beautiful job.

    Also, nice bike...

Default Awesome You Guys are Clued In

The guys at Circle-A have been quietly refining both the building and painting skills
all along. Happy to call them friends.

BTW...Brian had a very good race at the NBX GP this weekend past, another
builder who rides what he makes.

    Great bike!

I just moved to Providence last week for school and am excited to possibly go over and check them out! Wish a measly student like me could afford one... maybe they'll do a student discount. ha.

I've got one of two Circle A's that reside here in Durham, NC. Few shots here, got mine in 2009. Enjoying the hell out of it.

Hoping to ride it in all 100 North Carolina counties by the time I'm 50. I'm 40 now and think I've hit about 25 of them so far.

Also pictured is the sinkhole (eroded rail bed)I rode into a couple winters ago at 18mph or so (it looked like a harmless puddle at the time). Bike held up fine.

Just realized I need to get some shots of my "El Burro" ride with the gran bois tires I'm running now and loving. Rides better and looks better.

No doubt it would look better without the REI bag but that thing actually works great for holding lock, tools, emergency cliff bar, phone, and the general crap I don't like carrying on my body. We got a kid in the house now so aesthetic bike purchases are pretty low down on the list these days.

Great looking bike, Dave. I Love Paul Racers and the bell!

Did the frame original have mounts for Pauls in back - or did you have them added?

one more pic here of the "secret" fender mount.

I shoulda posted this originally but they do a great job of documenting steps in the build process with a photo essay on the blog. Look for the small type that says "view full sideshow" underneath the grouping of pictures. some close ups there show some of the other details they put in, including subtle ginko leaves on the panels (I told Brian I usually lean the bike up against the ginko tree in our front yard and wait for my buddy from down the street to roll up for our mid week ride, I let him do whatever he wanted with that info on the bike for a subtle fun touch)

Racer mounts were on the frame from the get go. I kind of sweated that decision as had no experience with them beforehand but am definitely glad I went with them.

Very cool guys indeed. Thought I'd add the following photo of my frame being put to its intended use. Not the best frame photo, but the only one I have of me racing (tall guy in the back).
