Black Friday welding class

Hoping to get a bit of feedback from those more experienced than I. Just learning how to tig weld with about 2 hours total time spent with a torch in hand, wondering how these look and if anyone might suggest changes to my setup.

Lincoln precision tig 185
10 cfm argon
Large cup...I believe it is a 5 or 6
1/16 tungsten ground sharp to 20 degrees, <1/2" stick out
.045 weldmold 880t rod
36-38amps no pulse
.035 4130 tubing, cleaned inside and out with abrasives and alcohol

Looks great, i would add a few cfms of argon. tap your pedal before you start so it floods the area with gas for a second or two and then start welding. Hold your cup in place at the end of the weld untill the post flow stops.

The amps are fine but you really should try welding the .035 to some thicker tubing as there are realitively few joints on a bike that are equal/equal, most being thicker/thinner like a ht/tt, ht/dt, dt/bb or st/bb joints. I think you will find that 5 more amps will work well for this.

keep it up, 2 hours for those results is a pretty flat curve!

Thanks for the tips, I haven't been too careful about keeping the cup around for the post flow since these are just practice joints, I do notice it helps with the oxide colors. probably wouldn't be a bad idea to start the habit even if these things are just all ending up in the recycling.
